Can anyone tell me why I was refused the war service medal issued for Featherstone residents who served in World War 2.
I left South Featherstone school at fourteen shortly after the war commenced and served in the poison gas treatment unit at Lister baths Featherstone until joining the Merchant navy in December 1941. I served on ten convoys and lived when on leave with my mother (Featherstone born) at 10 Station Lane, until medically discharged in 1944.
Now aged 96 I would like my grandchildren to know I did my bit,.
